Pieter van Aswegen

Pieter, our Operations Director has almost 25 years’ experience in developing and managing IT systems. A student of the University of the Free State in South Africa, Pieter initially lectured on IT at a number of colleges then moved into industry. He has provided IT expertise for organisations including Scottish Power, E-On and Aegon and helped set up a specialist IT Security firm with which he focused on network security and disaster recovery.
Pieter also has extensive experience of running a family business, through working with his wife to establish Buchan Estate, an award-winning guest house complex in Cape Town. Taking a lead on IT for Buchan Estate, Pieter developed specialist expertise and ultimately mentored other tourism ventures on their IT requirements, wireless networks and security protocols.
In 2009, Pieter became an independent IT consultant in Perth, Scotland and ever since has been supporting small and medium sized enterprises across the full spectrum of IT requirements, including hardware and software provision, installation, security (including firewalls, anti-virus, disaster recovery and business continuity), network design and implementation, web design and hosting, cloud services and bespoke software design.
A busy father of three, Pieter still makes the most of his precious spare time, including keeping fit, volunteering as a Scout Leader, playing squash and camping in the great outdoors.
